While in a perfect world, every artist totes around a 5lb laptop with unbeatable wifi while they’re on the road and performing at shows, multimedia isn’t always feasible due to portability for the every day artist. Most have a smart phone or one of the I’s (phone, pod, etc) and are able to capture video, photo and audio footage backstage or during performances— enter new WordPress stage left.

One of the pitfalls of the internet is the increasing need for instant content. While an artist’s camp might not make it home until 4 a.m., giving their footage a 24-hour turnaround, the rabid fan with the shaky, blackberry video will often beat them to the punch. WordPress for iphone and iPad 2.6 is the on-the-go artist and blogger’s saving grace. The update allows users to record, upload, attach and play videos in the application. There’s also a nifty auto-saving feature for music bloggers who like to begin writing their reviews between sets— this is especially helpful for shows with many headliners or festivals.
